Llama fibres are among the finest and most precious in the world. One reason for this is that the animals are only sheared every two years and each animal produces no more than around 3-4 kilos of hair. The properties of yarns made from these fibres - not without reason also known as ‘cashmere of the Andes’ - are also impressive.

Compared to sheep's wool, llama yarns are not only odourless and extremely light, they also have excellent insulating properties. This means that they adapt to the temperature by providing wonderful warmth in cold weather, while having a balancing, i.e. breathable, effect in warm weather.

Allergy sufferers and people with sensitive skin can also rejoice: llama yarns are 90% lanolin-free, antibacterial and do not scratch.

The fibres for our two fluffy, soft yarns are obtained from the animals' undercoat and spun into two popular yarn weights: a finer one (Fine), which is knitted with 4-4.5 mm needles, and the thicker one (Chunky), which requires a needle size of 5.5-6 mm. Both yarns are made from 100% baby llama and are available in six natural fur shades and ten classic colours in 50 g balls.
