What is Tencel and what are its properties?
Tencel is known for being exceptionally soft and comfortable against the skin, it has a luxurious shine and a loose drape - a pleasure for all the senses. At the same time, it is also strong and comfortable, breathable and biodegradable. The Tencel yarn GLAMCOT is something very special. Tencel is a 100% natural material made from eucalyptus fiber that is produced sustainably. Good for people and the environment. It is therefore not surprising that it is a “rising star” among sustainable designers.
What makes Tencel so sustainable?
The wood for Tencel is sourced from specially cultivated, sustainable forests. These forests are located in South Africa, where soil quality is low. Agriculture is not an option, but eucalyptus trees still grow there. The forests are managed sustainably and new trees are therefore planted in good time. That is why this wood also bears the FSC quality mark.
